Application for Admission to School

This page is opened if you select the Make an application for admission to school button on the Home Page. It allows you to enter the UID (if you have been issued with one - see below) to Create a New Application and, if you have already made an application, allows you to view, edit and print Existing Applications.

The availability of the view, edit and print functions depends on the status of the Transfer Group and Application. See View, Edit and Print Button Display Rules for more information about this.

Please note that the process of entering the child's details for a new application will vary according to whether or not you have been issued with a Unique ID code (UID) by the Local Authority for the application. A UID is used to identify an individual student and will consist of 14 automatically generated letters and numbers. It identifies which admissions group the child belongs to and will ensure that only applicants with the correct UID and knowledge of the child's date of birth will be able to see information relating to that child.

If you have a Unique ID code (UID)

If you have received a unique code (UID) from the Local Authority to make a new application, enter it now. This identifies a specific application. As an additional security check, please also enter the child's date of birth. This ensures that only you or your child's school can access their application information. Select Next. If today's date/time is later than all the closing dates/times for next year's school transfers, the Next button will not be available and you will not be able to proceed.

Please ensure that the UID characters are entered in UPPER CASE and are copied carefully from the Local Authority letter.

If the correct UID and date of birth combination is entered then the Your Child’s Details page will now be displayed. Any information already known about the child will be entered automatically and cannot be altered, except for the child's address, which you may edit if necessary.

If you do not have a Unique ID code (UID)

Select the No UID? button. You will then be taken to the Admissions Group Selection page. If today's date/time is later than all the closing dates/times for next year's school transfers the No UID? button will not be available.

Following selection of the admission group, as well as stating the preferred schools for the student, you will also need to complete the student details on the Your Child’s Details screen, providing such details as Surname, Forename, Date of Birth and Gender.

Existing Applications

If you have already saved and/or submitted any applications, they will be available in this section. All applications you have made are listed, displaying the admissions group, the child's name, the preferred school, the status of the application and the admissions group closing date and time for each application.

For further information about this area please see the topic Existing Applications.

A submitted application form can be printed from this page - to print a copy of the application form select the Print Application button. Unsubmitted applications cannot be printed.
