You will only be able to access this page if your Local Authority has made the Online Appeal functionality available for use.
Please note that you will only be able to view or edit appeal applications here if they have been made online. If you have submitted an appeal on a paper form it will not be available online.
This page is the Appeal Application form. It is divided into three sections - Your Child’s Details, Your Details and Your Appeal.
Your Child’s Details
When you open the Appeal application page to make a new appeal an Appeal Reference Number is generated automatically. This number will be used in any communications between the Local Authority and the person making the appeal (you, the appellant). The UID, child’s name, date of birth and gender are displayed. You cannot edit any of this information.
Your Details
The details you supplied when you registered to use Admissions and Transfers Online are displayed in the Your Details section. These include your name and address and your work and mobile telephone numbers. If any of your details have changed, are missing or are incorrect please type the new details in the box provided. The Local Authority will amend your details accordingly.
Your Appeal
This section allows you to enter supporting information relating to the appeal application and your attendance at the appeal hearing (the meeting of the Appeals Panel to consider the appeal application). You can change all of this information up to a certain time before the appeal hearing. The number of days or hours before the hearing that you can make changes will be indicated to you on-screen and is determined by your Local Authority. If you change any information you must re-submit the form using the Submit button at the bottom of the page.
The preference rank, school number, school name, Local Authority and Offer Status for the school to which you are appealing are listed. Enter your reasons for wishing to make an appeal in the memo box below the school name. Your Local Authority can also amend or add details to this memo that you will be able to view.
Select Yes or No to indicate your response to the questions. You will be asked if you plan to send additional information by post in support of your appeal. If you are attending the hearing you can request an interpreter to be present. If you do, please indicate for which language you need an interpreter. Please indicate if your representative will be present at the hearing. This can be in addition to, or instead of you.
By law you are entitled to have at least 14 days notice of the hearing date, however it may speed up the appeal process if you are prepared to waive this right, for example to take advantage of a cancellation. Please select Yes if you wish to waive your statutory right to the notice period.
If you have any special needs requirements to enable you to attend the hearing (for example wheelchair access or a hearing loop) please select Yes and explain your requirements in the memo box below.
Submit/Save
At this point you can simply save the information and return to the form later, or save and submit. Your appeal application is not finalised until you have submitted it. Select the Submit button to send the appeal form electronically to the Local Authority. When you select the Submit button you will be taken to the Confirmation of Submission page where you have the opportunity to print a copy of your completed appeal form. Only submitted appeals will go to a hearing. If you have submitted an appeal and wish to change some details before the hearing you can return to this page, amend the details and re-submit it.
You will be sent a confirmation email. You will be able to make alterations to the appeal form and re-submit it until a certain time before the appeal hearing. The number of days or hours before the hearing that you can make changes will be indicated to you on-screen and is determined by your Local Authority. If you change any information you must re-submit the form using the Submit button at the bottom of the page.
If you have saved but not submitted the appeal you will be warned of the fact that the Local Authority cannot process unsubmitted appeals.
Select the Delete button to clear all the information from the form and begin again. You cannot delete a submitted appeal.
At the bottom of this page are a series of links. Select a link to download a blank application or appeal form (if you wish to return the form by post rather than via the online system), change your password, contact the Local Authority or log out.
